Notice of Revised ISOR for Safer Consumer Product Regulations
(January 2013)

The Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) has revised the Initial Statement of Reasons (ISOR) for the Safer Consumer Product Regulation to address any significant issues regarding the statement, as well as to correct typographical, spelling, cross referencing, punctuation and other formatting errors. The Safer Consumer Product Regulation establishes criteria for identification and prioritization of chemicals of concern in consumer products, evaluations of alternatives and impositions of regulatory responses by adopting chapter 55 to division 4.5 of Title 22, California Code of Regulations.

DTSC opened and extended a public comment period until October 11, 2012, and held a public hearing on the regulation September 10, 2012. DTSC has made post hearing changes to the ISOR and released a new public comment period for the revised ISOR. The comment period was initiated December 21, 2012, and will end January 22, 2013. Copies of the revised ISOR are available at
www.dtsc.ca.gov/LawsRegsPolicies/Regs/index.cfm and are open for public inspection between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. at the Regulations Section located at 1001 I Street, 23rd Floor, Sacramento, California. Additions to existing text will be double-underlined and deleted text will be shown as strikeout. Please send questions or comments regarding the revised ISOR to:

All comments must be received by DTSC no later than 5:00 p.m. January 22, 2013. Please note that DTSC is not proposing changes to the regulations text as part of this notice and comment period.
