California Notice 2011-03: Launch of Special Local Need (SLN) Database (May 2011)

The California Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) recently launched a new online database that allows grower groups, county agricultural commissioner staff, licensed applicators and advisors, and other DPR stakeholders to easily access information on active and inactive special local needs pesticide registrations.

The Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) Section 24 (c) allows states to register additional uses or new uses for federally registered pesticide products. “Until now, information regarding these SNLs was not available to the public in an electronic format,” the notice from DRR Pesticide Registration Chief Ann M. Prichard states.

Through the new Web-based interface, users can search under criteria such as crop/site, pest, county, chemical, brand name, CA SLN number, and U.S. EPA registration number, and produce a list of matching SNL registrations. They also have access to text-searchable PDFs of the associated labels.

Visit the database at DPR’s website at http://apps.cdpr.ca.gov/sln/
or from DPR’s Home page at www.cdpr.ca.gov; click on “A-Z Index,” under “Setion 24c (special local need)” click on “Search Search Section 24 (c) registrations.”
