PESTICIDE REGULATION IN CALIFORNIA
California has the most extensive and intricate pesticide regulation program within the states. Pesticides are regulated by the California Environmental Protection Agency (Cal-EPA) which consists of departments tasked with overseeing chemical and pesticide issues. The Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) is responsible for pesticide registration, though pesticides are also subject to air and water quality requirements, and oversight by other State and County officials.
Located near Sacramento, TSG knows the intricacies of the Cal-EPA and works closely with regulatory staff, scientists and management to promote timely registration and address issues that could impact the registration of your product. TSG's State Affairs Division provides registration assistance for all types of products including antimicrobial, biochemical, microbial, plant and insect growth regulator and conventional pesticides, as well as adjuvants.
Pesticide Registration. TSG will develop registration strategies, identify data requirements, coordinate pre-registration meetings, prepare and submit applications for registration, provide technical support, address data call-ins and maintain on-going product compliance and defense.
Air Quality. For pesticides in California, the California Air Resource Board (CARB) regulates the reduction of volatile organic compounds (VOC) emissions in consumer products, while DPR oversees agricultural use product emission reduction. TSG's technical staff will provide guidance on VOC compliance strategies and responses.
Water Quality. TSG will identify water quality data requirements for your product and provide guidance on regional water quality issues and restrictions that could impact the sales and use of your product.
Proposition 65. State law requires that any product containing a chemical known to the state of California to be a carcinogen or reproductive toxin must have appropriate labeling to inform citizens about the exposures to such chemical, unless it can be shown that the potential for exposure is within “Safe Harbor Levels”. TSG's scientific staff are highly skilled in the development of product specific risk analysis and product defense.
