EPA Opens Public Comment for Draft Risk Assessments on Five Pesticides Up for Registration Review
(March 2013)

EPA is seeking public comments on draft human health and ecological risk assessments for the registration review of five pesticides: cyromazine, dioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate, glufosinate ammonium, silica silicates, and undecylenic acid. In addition, EPA has conducted qualitative assessments of human health and ecological risks of doictyl sodium solfosuccinate, silica silicates and undecylenic acids due to their use patterns and toxicity profiles. EPA also completed a draft ecological risk assessments with screening level evaluations of risk to listed species for cyromazine and glufosinate ammonium.

EPA hopes that the draft assessments will support its objective to complete the first cycle of registration review for over 700 pesticide cases. EPA requests public comments and suggestions for revising the draft assessments to reduce uncertainties associated with the risk characterizations and initiate early mitigation before registration reviews are completed. The 60-day public comment period closes May 6, 2013.
