Cost of Traditional Thanksgiving Meal (November 2015)

The American Farm Bureau’s annual informal price survey puts this year’s traditional Thanksgiving meal cost up slightly from last year. The average meal for a family of 10 costs a total of $50.11, which comes out to a little over $5 per serving. This is a minor increase from last year’s survey which estimated the cost at $49.41.
The typical goods in preparing Thanksgiving dinner and used to calculate the total cost include: a 16-pound turkey, bread stuffing, sweet potatoes, rolls with butter, peas, cranberries, a veggie relish tray with celery and carrots, pumpkin pie with whipped cream, and beverages with coffee and milk.
