Health Canada Releases Updated In-Commerce List (May 2013)On May 3, 2013, Health Canada released an Updated In-Commerce List.
The revised In-Commerce List (ICL) consists of:
1. Substances from the ICL whose identity has been verified by Health Canada prior to the nomination process; and
2. Substances accepted for addition to the revised ICL during the Phase I and Phase II of the voluntary nomination process for which substance identity and eligibility criteria have been verified.
With the publication of the revised ICL, a 90-day correction and review period is now open. During this correction and review period, any person may provide recommended corrections pertaining to a substance that appears on the revised ICL. After the 90-day period is concluded, the ICL will be updated and republished on the Health Canada website to include revisions.
The previous four ICL sub-lists and "Substances in products regulated under the Food and Drugs Act in Commerce between 1984-1986 - Eligible for Addition to the Domestic Substance List” will be available on the website for the purposes of providing proof of commerce to nominate a substance to the revised ICL.
PLEASE NOTE: substances which are not included in the ICL or the Domestic Substances List (DSL) are subject to notification requirements of the New Substance Notification Regulations (NSNR) under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act (CEPA).
