TOLERANCE PETITIONS
TSG can assist your company to obtain import tolerances, which allow imported food to bear residues of a pesticide not registered in the US. We consulted on the first import tolerance EPA granted, and have since expanded our knowledge and expertise in this field.
- Explain processes and key issues involved in import tolerance petitions.
- Negotiate with EPA regarding specific requirements for your pesticide.
- Review your existing data and determine if there are data gaps.
- Develop protocols, aid in selection of contractors, monitor field and laboratory activities, and report the conduct and outcome of any study required to fill a data gap.
- Obtain required information on percent of food commodity consumed in the US that is imported from countries in which the pesticide is used, including both raw commodities and commodities processed in the US or abroad.
- Prepare and submit study volumes following all applicable guidelines.
- Follow up with EPA during the review process, provide rebuttals to EPA findings if needed, answer questions, and confer on issues.
- Prepare the import tolerance petition.
TSG was instrumental in obtaining the first import tolerance granted by EPA. We helped define guidance for the types of data required. Since then, we have successfully helped in several import tolerance actions. Our knowledge and expertise provides a distinct advantage you as an import tolerance applicant.
TSG is prepared to assist your company in navigating the import tolerance process to allow you to sell your product outside the US without import restrictions on treated foods.
