Though the United States government has thorough programs to regulate issues of public concern such as health, the environment, toxic materials, occupation health and safety, energy, and agriculture, each of the 50 “United States” can and typically do regulated these same issues “additionally” to the Federal programs. The result is a complex maze of state regulations, many of which differ from their Federal counterparts by expanding the level of control and enforcement.
